
Meet City Holler


Hailing from the vibrant hills of Pittsburgh, City Holler is a powerhouse bluegrass band made up of five accomplished and experienced musicians who share a passion for traditional American music. With a sound that blends the roots of traditional bluegrass, the soul of old-time gospel, and the heart of classic country, City Holler brings their own edge to these timeless styles. Layering guitar, mandolin, fiddle, stand-up bass, and a spirited blend of vocal harmonies, City Holler brings their sound to life with energy and heart.
Multi-instrumentalist Wayne Smith has performed in a variety of musical settings, both locally and nationally. Wayne has performed throughout the country in various jazz and rock outfits, as well as, lead guitarist in the nationally known Prince Project, and he’s recorded four albums of original material with musical partner Carla Simmons, under the moniker of GRAIN.
Carla Simmons has been singing, writing, recording, and performing in a variety of rock bands since the age of 19. She is most proud of her four album releases with GRAIN, where she is the co-founder, songwriter, and vocalist, along with musical partner, Wayne Smith.
Art Gazdik has been involved in the local and regional Bluegrass scene for many years. Most notably, he played and recorded with folk band The Newlanders, subsequently, resulting in three European tours, in conjunction with the Westmoreland Museum exhibition called “Born of Fire”. He brings his seasoned mandolin and fiddle playing to City Holler.
Kraig Decker has been a bass player in the Pittsburgh music scene since the mid 2000’s. He’s played and performed with Boca Chica, Nik and the Central Plains, and The Beagle Brothers. Kraig brings his upright bass and vocal talents to City Holler.
Lea Nesbitt is originally from Hubbard, Ohio, but she has played all throughout the state and well beyond! Performing since the age of 3, Lea has entertained and toured singing, playing guitar and saxophone in many different genres with groups like Time Warp, Guys Without Ties, SparkyLark, The Prince Project, Against The Wind. Lea is also a singer songwriter and has written and recorded many songs and albums over the years. Lea is super excited to be singing bluegrass with her friends in City Holler!
